According to the Superintendent of Police, a written complaint was received at the Women Police Station on July 7. The complaint alleged that on June 28, some named individuals committed gang rape against a minor girl. The victim's family further alleged that the accused recorded an obscene video during the incident and later circulated it on social media.
After receiving the complaint, police immediately registered a First Information Report at the Women Police Station and initiated an investigation.
Following the seriousness of the case, a special team was constituted under the direction of the Superintendent of Police and led by Maharajganj Sub-Divisional Police Officer Aman. The team conducted an extensive investigation using scientific and technical evidence along with detailed local-level inquiries.
After continuous efforts, police arrested all three named accused persons. The arrested accused have been identified as Sandeep Kumar, Brajesh Kumar and D W Kumar. Two of them are residents of Basantpur Police Station area, while one belongs to Maharajganj Police Station area.
Police officials said that the arrested accused are being interrogated and electronic evidence related to the incident is also being examined. If the investigation reveals the involvement of any other persons, legal action will be taken against them as per law.
During the investigation into the criminal background of the accused, police found that two of the arrested persons have previous criminal records. Cases under various sections are already registered against them, and police are verifying details of those cases.
Officials stated that no person involved in crimes against women and children would be spared and strict legal action would be ensured against those found guilty.
The special team involved in the operation included Basantpur Police Station Officer Raju Kumar, Women Police Station Officer Suman Kumari and officials from the District Intelligence Unit. Through coordinated efforts, the team succeeded in arresting the accused within a short period.
Police have appealed to the public to immediately inform authorities about any crime against women and children so that timely action can be taken and justice can be provided to victims. The investigation remains ongoing, with police examining the viral video and other digital evidence. Authorities have also indicated that a speedy trial will be pursued in the case to ensure strict action against those found guilty.
